Las Gaviotas

Don and I recently took our first trip to Mexico with one of our favorite couples. Truthfully, we wondered what could be so different just 100 miles south of us on the same coast. But after battling some heinous traffic (one of So Cal's many charms), we crossed the border into an entirely new world. Dusty roads and abandoned buildings lead the way to our final destination — a cobblestone community  of darling beach homes.

Lines of waves rolled in for surfing while an oversized lounge chair set the scene for some serious relaxation. Margaritas and loads of sunshine filled the rest of the long weekend. On our way home, we rounded out our dreamlike trip with a stop at a maze of an open air market filled with blankets, trinkets and leather goods.

Adios for now, Las Gaviotas.
