Catalina Island

For Don's birthday this year, we took a journey to Catalina. After an hour and a half ferry ride from Dana Point Harbor we arrived on the sunny shore of Avalon. Colorful boats floated on sparkling water, charming cafes and tourist shops lined the boardwalk. Braced for island winds, we were pleasantly surprised with perfect 75 degree sunshine. If you had tossed in a little humidity we could have been convinced we were in Hawaii.

We snapped photos as we made our way to the far end of the island where we enjoyed tropical beverages on a bar patio. We closed our trip with a golf cart drive that gave us beautiful views of the city and glimpses of mystery deer.
